COVAL Fam Friday is a new installment to the newsletter and I want to make it fun, engaging, and an opportunity for us to get to know one another better!
This week, I want to know:
What is the longest that you've ever slept for?
For me, it was on New Years Eve 2012.
I had clients from 8-noon that morning. I arrived at the gym at around 7AM and at 7:15AM I started to feel a bit funny.
"I'm fine. I'm gonna be okay" I told myself.
By 7:30 I was throwing up in the bathroom. I called all of my clients to cancel, went home, and went right to sleep.
Over the next 48 hours I slept nearly 36 hours. I woke up only to eat Frostees from Wendy's (sooooo good) and a couple of bowls of soup during that time frame.
I felt horrible.
I have no way of proving it, but those 36 hours of sleep were a blessing because coincidentally for the next 4 months I felt like Superman.
The flu hitting me when it did was my body's way of saying "enough jerkoff, you've been treating yourself horribly for too long". I was working up to 80 hours per week (with no help), eating like crap (I was at 204 pounds when I got sick…for reference, if you've seen me over the last year I've been between 177-181 lbs), and stressed out of my mind.
It was the "reset" that my body needed and unfortunately for me, I had to get it the hard way.
What about you? What's the longest that you've ever slept? Have an interesting story to go along with it?
Let's hear it!
