Non-negotiable: not open to discussion or modification
"Mike, I thought you didn't feel well? Why are you working out?"
I've experienced sinus issues for the past 3 years which would result in me being wiped out for at least 1/2 of a day 2-3x per week. It's gotten better over time, but I would experience symptoms like excessive fatigue, severe headaches, intense pressure in my head and face, "foggy" brain where I wouldn't be able to focus on a single task for more than a couple of minutes at a time….it sucks.
But, the one thing I told myself is that I wasn't going to let that become an excuse to not workout. And I haven't. It's a non-negotiable for me in my life. Sure, there will be times that my body needs to rest and I do take days off, but you can bet that at least 6 days per week that I'm breaking a sweat.
I know the power of exercise and what it does for my brain, my hormones, my body, my confidence, my sleep….I 100% believe that physical activity is the most powerful medicine that there is and we all should be taking advantage of it. There's even days that my sinuses are horrendous, and then I will do some light movement for 20-30 minutes and I feel better after moving around.
Engaging in physical activity to the point of breaking a sweat is a non-negotiable for me at least 6 days per week.
What are your non-negotiables that help guide you in your life?
Side note: I've seen an ENT and Allergist and we're still in the mix of finding the right solution. It's gotten better since doing allergy shots.
