As many of you who work with me or have worked with me know, I train a decent amount of local high school basketball players. A good number of them go to Ann Arbor Huron.
This past Saturday they played in the State Championship. Unfortunately, they came up a bit short, but that doesn't diminish their accomplishments over the past two seasons.
41-2 over the past two seasons. When the season shut down last year they were ranked #2 in the state and heading into the District Championship. Throughout this season they consistently ranked at #2 in the state as well.
8 of these young men will have the opportunity to play college basketball next season (4 of them will have full-ride scholarships - this isn't including one of the players who is committed to play football at Saginaw Valley State next year and one of the players from the '19-'20 squad who is on full scholarship at Wayne State University).
9 of their players either currently or have worked with me at COVAL Fitness. In the '19-'20 season I was fortunate enough to be work with the entire team at Huron High School once per week during the season.
This is such a great group of kids who have showcased tremendous character in a very trying time. I couldn't be more proud of this group and I can't wait to see what lies ahead for them in the next chapter of their lives.
Thank you to each and every one of them for having such a positive impact on my life and thank you to the coaching staff (especially Coach Samaha) for being so welcome and hospitable when I was helping out during the '19-'20 season.
These last two seasons are something that I will never forget.
